It was wonderful to see so many people attend our ‘Virtual Staff Awards’ ceremony last night. During these challenging times it has been amazing to see the staff body come together in mutual support, reaching out to students and one another. Watching the videos and reading the comments made about staff who have gone the extra mile and who have demonstrated their creativity and imagination, I was struck again by how privileged we are to have our Archway ‘family’.
As we end this academic year and plan towards a more normal September there is a great deal upon which to reflect. How will we learn the lessons from this period and what impact will those lessons have on the future of the educational offer at Archway schools? There is no doubt that we will continue to maximise the efficiencies of communication afforded to us through technology but how will this look in practice on a daily basis?
It is exciting to think that education could be done differently. That lessons can genuinely be flipped so our students can learn at home successfully and embed that learning in school with the expertise of teachers and support of their peers. This is the next stage of our journey and one that we have only just begun to embark upon. I hope that the summer will provide greater clarity and an opportunity to step aware from the fire for a period to think, reflect and reboot ready for taking the next steps towards our ‘new normal’.
But for now let us celebrate all that has been achieved and say a huge thank you to our wonderful staff team.
