Celebrating Languages at Bluecoat Bentinck Primary Academy

Children at Bluecoat Bentinck Primary Academy have been taking part in interactive workshops and learning new language skills as part of the Celebrating Languages and Language Heritage in Nottingham Project.

The project, which was funded by Nottingham Trent University, saw children learn some Ukrainian folk songs and dances from Iryna Muha from the Ukrainian Cultural Centre. They also learned some fun songs in Twi, Swahili and English from Freddie Kofi from the New Art Exchange.

Bluecoat Bentinck Primary Academy is a very diverse, multi-cultural school, with over 40 languages spoken by the children, the majority of whom have English as an additional language.

This project enabled them to celebrate their diversity and learn something new whilst having some fun.
