This month saw Archway Learning Trust host a visit from Geoff Barton, General Secretary of ASCL. We were delighted to be able to talk to him about our work on inclusion and to take him around our off site provision – Aspire. Inclusion is very much a part of what Archway stands for and runs through the heart of all of our activity. Geoff was able to meet staff and students from the Alternative Provision Unit as well as visit Bluecoat Beechdale and Emmanuel academies.
Whenever I show visitors around our schools I am always struck afresh by two things. Firstly that every learner deserves the very best we can offer whatever their background and whatever behaviour they present. Secondly, how privileged I am to work with the leaders that work at the Trust. Geoff himself commented on the incredible staff working at the Trust and he is right. They are committed, hardworking, talented and most important of all they ‘get it’- they completely understand what Archway stands for.
Last week saw us host our wonderful recruitment evening. Over 200 staff signed up for this evening where they could meet staff and see whether they would fit into the Trust and hear what we stand for. All great schools are built on great staff, students and leaders. I look forward to appointing many more great staff this year to join our mission to ‘transform the lives of young people’.
