It was a great pleasure to welcome John Edwards, Regional Schools Commissioner for the East Midlands and Humber, to Archway Learning Trust today. John was able to meet with staff and students who focus especially on the inclusive ethos that runs through the heart of the Trust. Archway has always supported high numbers of students who have complex learning needs. At Bluecoat Aspley Academy there is a bespoke unit for children from across the City of Nottingham with particular ASD needs. In addition to visiting this unit John also visited our on-site Student Support unit where students receive help with learning needs linked to behaviour.
John visited the Aspire Unit which educates our older students off site in order to prevent them becoming permanently excluded. Over the last year no student at Archway Learning Trust has been permanently excluded and at Bluecoat Academy (Aspley and Wollaton sites) no students have been permanently excluded for over 6 years.
We are proud of our record of inclusion and especially proud of our fantastic students and staff who work so well together to achieve amazing outcomes against all the odds. Thank you John for coming to see us in action.
