Malcolm is an experienced educational consultant specialising in leadership, governance and strategic school improvement. He previously spent ten years in senior national roles with the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL), including serving as Deputy General Secretary and a period as Interim General Secretary. Prior to this, he was Headteacher of Malmesbury School in Wiltshire for 17 years and worked in a range of teaching and leadership roles across Hampshire and Dudley.
Since 2018, Malcolm has worked independently, supporting leaders on strategy, curriculum and financial planning. He is programme director for the NPQ Executive Leadership programme and has contributed to numerous national education groups, including chairing the 2019 review of Headteacher Standards. He was awarded a CBE for services to education in 2016.
A trustee since 2019 and elected Chair in 2023, Malcolm brings deep expertise in governance, leadership development and national education policy. His experience strengthens the Trust’s strategic direction, supports effective oversight and helps ensure high‑quality education across all academies.
