Malcolm Trobe is the former Deputy General Secretary for the Association of School and College Leaders (ASCL). He worked full-time for ASCL for 10 years until August 2018 including a fifteen month period as Interim General Secretary in 2016/17. Before that he was the headteacher of Malmesbury School in Wiltshire for 17 years. He also taught in schools in Hampshire and Dudley and for five years was the TVEI (Technical and Vocational Educational Initiative) Director for Dudley MBC. He was ASCL president in 2006-07. He now works as an independent educational consultant specialising in leadership, strategic and financial planning and curriculum. Malcolm works as a consultant for the Executive Leadership Consortium as programme director for their NPQ Executive Leadership programme. He has worked on many national education groups and in June 2019 was appointed by the Secretary of State for Education to chair the review group on Headteacher Standards. He was awarded a CBE for services to education in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list 2016.
